Limited Edition Commemorative Abraham Lincoln Stamp Cancelled Envelope
Created by WNY native Christian J. LoGrasso, each envelope features a beautiful portrait of Abraham Lincoln and special pictorial postmark to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the end of the American Civil War, Lincoln's assassination on April 14, 1865 and the unprecedented funeral train journey from Washington, DC up the East Coast and across New York State and Ohio to Lincoln's final resting place in Springfield, Illinois. Thousands of Americans lined the tracks all along the route in mournful tribute, and thousands more waited for hours along Main Street during the train's one-day stop in Buffalo on April 27, 1865 to file past his coffin.
The Buffalo & Erie County Public Library has partnered with the U.S. Postal Service – WNY Region and the Brant-Farnham Historical Society to offer stamp collectors and history buffs this special pictorial postmark. This envelope would make a wonderful gift for history buffs and stamp collectors alike. Each #10 envelope (4 1/8" by 9 1/2") also includes a plastic sleeve of appropriate sizing to protect your purchase upon arrival.
